Amazon
Subscription redesign for Kindle Unlimited’s membership program

Kindle Unlimited is Amazon’s digital reading subscription, giving members access to ebooks, audiobooks, magazines, and serialized content across devices.
I redesigned the subscription experience across mobile and desktop, making plan selection, promotional pricing, upgrades, and account management easier to understand and use.

A new multi-tier subscription model
By combining plan education, tier comparison, promotional messaging, and checkout, I designed a subscription experience that kept Kindle Unlimited simple while introducing more choice, clearer plan differences, and a stronger path to membership.

existing membership Upgrade Experience
Kindle Unlimited’s existing subscription experience was built around a simpler membership model. The new strategy introduced multiple tiers, plan benefits, upgrade paths, promotional offers, and account management states.
The objective was to make the new model feel easy to understand. Users needed to compare options, see what changed between plans, and move through subscription decisions without added confusion.

Staging Design for Version Control
With multiple tiers, billing options, promotional offers, and membership states, the experience needed to account for many possible user paths. The goal was to make the product logic clear across each customer state.

My work included a series of user scenarios designed to stress test the experience across new subscribers, existing members, upgrades, downgrades, family plans, checkout, and account management.

journey Mapping
The process was designed to ensure that plan type, pricing, chosen state, promotional offers, and checkout actions all updated seamlessly within the same flow. This streamlined approach allowed users to quickly compare options, grasp membership types, and proceed without any extra steps.
